Europa League special!

Update! Rosenberg have dropped their top striker, but aside from that field a strong side. 11/2 is worth a punt…

Porkers Picks wont stray far away from their home in Scotland… but we have some knowledge now on the Rangers and Celtic groups and I smell some value…

Celtic… too short. They should go and win in Rosenborg who will play a weakened team to save for their weekend cup final but 4/6 is too expensive for me. I may even be tempted into a small flutter on Rosenborg once we see the teams…

Rangers on the other hand we get at 5/2 on their home patch. To be fair to the huns, they have been in top form in Europe, and could have potentially won every game they have played so far. Villareal have struggled in the Spanish league and in Europe, with no away wins thus far. 5/2 seems generous.

I also like Salzburg in the battle of the Red Bulls. They are a top side. In their last 32 games, they have drawn only 4 – and won the rest. Unlucky not be in Champs League after being knocked out on away goals after dominating both legs. OK – Austrian league is not the Bundesliga, but they have already won all 4 Euro ties including beating Leipzig in Germany, so not sure why they are 2/1. Only concern is if they field a weakened team, but potentially the could still not qualify so I’d expect they want to finish the job here.

2 points – Rangers @ 5/2

2 points – Salzburg @ 2/1

1 point – Rosenberg @ 11/2

Slim pickings

I’m not usually keen on betting on anything much under 2/5 in football, as there are no certainties and a bit of luck can swing things either way. Even more so in cup football. But we’ll make an exception here in a few games…

First up Ayr away to Beith Juniors. 2/13 is minute value – but it’s still value. This is a complete mismatch, and Ayr should ease past with room to spare.

Queen of the South, should be way too strong for Formartine, and same goes for Elgin City, who I think are great value at 4/9 against a University team who are struggling in a non-pro league.

Lastly, East Fife should easily dismantle Berwick Rangers, who I rate as Scotlands worst side right now, and Morton should be too strong for Peterhead.

With the prices below, there’s not much room for error so hoping for a clean sweep here..

2 points – Ayr @ 2/13

2 points – Queen of the South @ 1/4

2 points – Morton @ 7/10

2 points – East Fife @ 2/5

2 points – Elgin @ 4/9

That’s all folks! Enjoy!

Happy as a pig in shit

Down in the basement leagues mud fight, Albion Rovers can come out on top against Berwick in this bottom two shit-out. I’d rate Albion as a bit less shit than Berwick, so 9/4 is well worth devouring, though this is coming in as we speak. Perhaps should have snapped up more than 1 point last night…

Dumbarton represent more good value at 9/5 away to Stenhousemuir.. some faith again being placed in Jim Duffy. Add Raith away for a well priced Tasty Treble. Very tasty indeed!

For a 4-fold – a very rare foray into the English market for one reason only – Jack Ross. He’ll be managing in the Premiership within a few years. Let’s make some money along the way. Sunderland to win.

Lastly Morton are worth a flutter – I’m not sure that any team should be 11/2 against anyone in this league…

BTW.. Albania looking interesting at 9/4 tonight against Scotland… maybe another post to follow…

2 points – Raith @ 10/11

2 points – Sunderland @ 4/6

2 points – Dumbarton @ 9/5

1 point – Albion Rovers @ 9/4

1 point – Morton @11/2

Pig Six

Six of the best for tomorrow..

From the Premiership, we’ll take an in form St Johnstone to beat a Hamilton side who’ve been poor all season, but have managed to pick up more points than they probably deserve.

I’m confident that Dunfermline wont make any mistakes against their fiercest rivals in the Championship, so even at 3/5, we’ll take them.

Add Dumbarton in League 1 to complete the Tasty Treble. Again – I’m going for the Duffy effect to lift them off the foot of the table tomorrow.

For the Pig Six, add Morton, Raith and Clyde!

2 points – St Johnstone @ 5/6

2 points – Dunfermline @ 3/5

2 points – Dumbarton @ evens

2 points – Morton @ 10/11

2 points – Raith @ 29/20

2 points – Clyde @ 3/4

That’s all folks! Enjoy.

Europa League special

It’s the Old Firm in Europe again and again the pig can smell done dinner.

Take Spartak at 6/5 at home. Rangers have ride their luck a bit on the road but I fancy it to run out tonight.

For Celtic, I’m going to take a chance on them snatching a win at just under 3/1.

2 points – Spartak Moscow @ 6/5

1 point – Celtic @ 11/4

Perfect 10

A bonanza of selections this week… is it because I have had too much time sunning my raw hide for the past week, or do we have the Perfect 10?

Much opportunity here, but my top 3 would be Raith, Motherwell and Arbroath. Raith should not be getting beaten by Brechin at home, and East Fife are punching above their weight somewhat, (their 4-0 pumping by Dumbarton last week was overdue). Lastly Motherwell are better than their current points tally and they will build on their midweek win against St Mirren against a pretty awful Dundee side. That’s your Tasty Treble!

Staying in Premiership, never keen on betting against St Johnstone – an obstinate, nuisance of a team – however Hibs have to be taken at home at 8/11.  And I will also risk a smaller stake on Hamilton. At almost 12/5 at home they are worth it.

In the Champtionship, Queen of The South are frustratingly unpredictable, but we need to take Dundee Utd at home at 20/21. I quite fancy Inverness in the Highland derby, but the generous odds on the draw, (13/5), make more sense for a team that has drawn last 5 games. The fixture also ended up a goalless stalemate last time.

In league 1 we also must consider Dumbarton away at 17/10.

In the bottom league, I’m keen on Cowdenbeath at 19/10 – they are a stronger outfit than last year and can beat Elgin at home. And I’ll put a smaller wager on Stirling to get Kevin Rutkiewicz managerial career off and running, (not so much due to Stirling, more because Berwick are dung).

10 picks – in summary:

2 points – Raith @ 7/10

2 points – Arbroath @ 7/10

2 points – Motherwell @ 4/5

2 points – Hibs @ 8/11

2 points – Dundee Utd @ 20/21

2 points – Cowdenbeath @ 19/10

1 point – Dumbarton @ 17/10

1 point – Stirling @ 7/10

1 point – Hamilton @ 47/20

1 point – Inverness / Ross County draw @12/5
