A Porkers Dozen

Late Update! After seeing Old Firm teams have switched to Rangers…

A dozen picks today – not expecting them all up of course, (though will gladly accept), 8 or 9 out of 12 will do us here.

We have a very Tasty Treble to start with though. Derby matches are good bets – the strongest sides in derbies are usually quite consistent winners, and I’ll take Dunfermline to reverse their 1-0 defeat to Falkirk last time the two sides met. For Peterhead – see same theory. Of their last nine “derbies” against Elgin, they have won, er, nine. 4/6 is generous. Lastly Edinburgh City will surely beat the hopeless Berwick – 2/5 is still value.

For a Fabulous Five fold – add Annan, who will be too strong for the stranded Albion Rovers at 8/15, and for a bit more value Partick Thistle at 7/5, who seem to be improving under Caldwell – I still think he’s an arse though.

The rest of the list are add ons – all value:

Fab Five:

2 points – Dunfermline @ 17/20
2 points – Partick Thistle @ 7/5
2 points – Edinburgh City @ 2/5
2 points – Peterhead @ 4/6
2 points – Annan @ 8/15

Best of the rest:

2 points – Hamilton @ 3.4
2 points – Raith Rovers @ 1.7
2 points – Arbroath @ 1.84
1 point – Dumbarton @11/10
1 point – Rangers @ 9/4
0.5 points – Hearts @ 3/1
0.5 points – Dundee @ 3/1

Boxing Day Bonanza

6 games today in Scottish Prem, and I think there is a bit of value in all the match ups.

Tasty treble: Hearts particularly, and also Rangers should take care of Hamilton and Hibs respectively. The 11/20 on offer is value. To get a decent return, we will add the famous Paisley St Mirren. Can they make it two wins on the trot? It may seem a tad unlikely, but a strong and resurgent performance against Motherwell, and a home support who are still onside makes 3/1 worth a flutter.

The relatively high prices of home sides Aberdeen, (6/1), Dundee, (16/5) and Motherwell, (9/4), are tempting enough for a very small flutter.

Perhaps I’ve had too much of the pig swill last night – 6 out of 6?

2 points Hearts @ 11/20
2 points Rangers @ 11/20
1 point St Mirren @ 3/1
1 point Dundee @ 16/5
0.5 points Aberdeen @ 6/1
0.5 points Motherwell @ 9/4

Santa’s here

A special festive gift for my loyal customers! Eight super selections straight from Santas grotto! Merry Christmas!

Take it from the top. Motherwell are a decent side, especially at home. St Mitten are not and are already looking to the January transfer window 4/5 will do.

Dunfermline are a risky one and Ayr seem unstoppable but Dunfermline are way better than their position suggests. 2/1 is good at East End Park. Elsewhere in the Championship, Ross County will comfortably take care of the hapless Gary Caldwells Patrick Thistle and Morton are value at 21/10 at home to Inverness. Not many goals in that one, just a small wager and the 0-0 correct score could also be worth a flutter.

In league 1, Arbroath are my picks to win the league but at 13/5, full time Raith are too generous.

Down in the bottom league Peterhead and Annan should be formalities and a resurgent Queens Park are value at 6/4 against an unpredictable Elgin City.

In summary:

2 points – Motherwell @ 4/5
2 points – Dunfermline @ 2/1
2 points – Ross County @ 4/6
2 points – Annan @ 1/2
2 points – Queens Park @ 6/4
2 points – Peterhead @ 1/2
1 point – Morton @ 21/10
1 point – Raith @ 13/5

Merry Christmas everyone! ?

A Christmas Hamper

Back to basics here with a focus on the lower leagues where there are always more opportunities to be exposed.

Edinburgh City top the value with a tasty 17/20 at home to Elgin. Strongly fancied, and a generous price. Queens Park were 19/20 earlier, but the market is correcting and is coming in fast. Clyde is a tricky one – two good sides who have not been getting rub of green recently, but Clyde should come out on top.

Moving up slightly into Div 1 – we’ll take Arbroath here, at 4/5 it seems decent value for a side who have yet to lose any games – though some decent money being placed on Airdrie here. Hopefully just some over confident Airdrie drunks – quite possible.

Raith are just about worth it at 10/11 – but wary against an under performing Dumbarton side under new management, and in the top league we’ll risk a small wager on Kilmarnock who should be able to take care of Dundee on their plastic pitch.

Go on – boost your Christmas funds with the below hamper of goodies…

3 points – Edinburgh City @ 17/20
2 points – Queens Park @ 19/20
2 points – Clyde @ 4/5
2 points – Arbroath @ 4/5
1 point – Raith Rovers @ 10/11
1 point – Kilmarnock @ 8/13

Old Firm special

Celtic good price tonight at 13/8. Take Rapid at the same price, though more wary of the draw so lesser stake

2 points – Celtic @ 13/8
1 point – Rapid Vienna @ 13/8

Choochters League

Whilst Champions League goes on we’ll have our eye on the Choochters. 1 out of 2 for them – Aberdeen to beat Livi, but Edinburgh City are worth a punt at home as outsiders to Peterhead, (11/5)

2 points – Aberdeen @ 10/11
2 points – Edinburgh City @ 11/5

Pigs head rules Hearts

Going through to Livi today and don’t like to bet against my team – but although Saints got a good result at the weekend and performed well, they did carry some luck and also lost two players who would have been particularly effective against the Livingston bullies on home soil, (Magennis and Mullen), so we must reluctantly take Livingston.

Hearts can return to winning ways at 5/6 against Motherwell. Motherwell are a good side, but Hearts should be too strong at Tynecastle.

Aberdeen are welcome at home at evens against anyone outside the old firm and I suspect St Johnstone are punching above their weight.

Raith are better than evens in a game they should expect to win – we’ll take it.

Queens Park can continue their resurgence under Mark Roberts stewardship.

And Celtic are still worth taking at the miserly price of 2/7. I’ll be impressed if Kille can go to Celtic with the pressure of sitting top and take anything home.

Morton and Dunfermline seem like just about value – so smal punts there.

And special guest appearance again for Sunderland – the English team with Scottish connection. JR can make us money again this year.

Enjoy folks! 🙂

2 points – Livingston @ 5/6 🙁
2 points – Hearts @ 5/6
2 points – Aberdeen @ evens
2 points – Raith @ evens
2 points – Queens Park @ 6/4
2 points – Celtic @2/7

1 point – Morton @ 3/1
1 point – Dunfermline @ 6/5

2 points Sunderland

Midweek Premiership Special!

A midweek Premiership special for Porkers Picks with some marginal choices moving in price to give just enough value.

Rangers at 4/6 are good value and Hibs are 4/9 but are better than their losing run and I think it is a hard shift for Saints tonight.

Less confident about Kilmarnock but their drift to evens sees mebrrak my rule to bet against Livi again, though only a small flutter.

2 points – Rangers @ 4/6
2 points – Hibernian @ 4/9
1 point – Kilmarnock @ evens

Six, naw seven, picks

Can you tell I was out last night? Missed Dumbarton, 1 point on them.. updated below

7 picks today. Best value from below? Cant see Aberdeen making much mark on Celtic, 9/20 is generous. Raiths are good value at almost even money and At Mirren really should beat Hamilton at home so 7/5 is value:

2 points – Raith @ 10/11

2 points – Celtic @ 9/20

2 points – QoS @ 23/20

2 points – Peterhead @ 4/7

2 points – Inverness @  11/20

2 points – St Mirren @ 7/5

1 point Dumbarton @ 11/10
