Midweek Championship Focus

Two Championship sides worth backing here.

Ayr can go top of the league tonight with a win over Inverness. I’m going against one of my golden rules here – never bet for or against cheuchters, they are too unpredictable – but the momentum and support behind Ayr makes me confident on this one. We’ll take 11/10.

In the Scottish Cup, Queen of the South are worth a bet too. A bit disappointed by the price, Queen of the South are favourites, but at 8/5 I’m still taking Dobbie and Co to come through.

2 points – Ayr @ 11/10
1 point – Queen of the South @ 8/5

Queens Park do Rangers

Queens Park are the pick of the day today, and although short odds at 8/15, it would be a huge shock if Berwick Rangers can get anything here. Arbroath similarly priced at home are worth taking against Forfar. Aberdeen should be stronger side than a Kilmarnock side punching above their weight and if this goes to form they should win at Pittodrie – evens is decent value.

That’s your Tasty Treble! 🙂

Hearts and Raith could make a five fold, whilst two longer priced shots trigger some interest. Annan against Peterhead will be a close fought match, so almost 3/1 for Annan at home is too much, and a mostly new and unknown St Mirren side are worth a risk against an out of sorts Hibs, who they have already matched twice this season. 9/2 is generous.

2 points – Queens Park @ 8/15
2 points – Aberdeen – evens
2 points – Arbroath @ 8/15
2 points – Raith @ 4/6
1 points – Hearts @ 5/4
1 point – Annan Athletic @ 29/10
1 point – St Mirren @ 9/2

Pork Belly tickled

Expect the wee Rangers to roll over and have their belly tickled tonight against their big sister…. will they even play blue nose Jordan Jones..?? 4/6 is just about enough to go for Rangers.

St Johnstone at home to Livingston, (6/5) and a Motherwell side looking to bounce back from their shock Scottish Cup exit at home to Hibs, (23/10), can make a treble.

Motherwell the dodgiest of these, but in their wee dingy home under the lights they might just spring a shock.

2 points – Rangers @ 4/6
1 point – St Johnstone @ 6/5
1 point – Motherwell @ 23/10

Thistle do Pig, Thistle do

Not much value around today, I was a bit late with a couple of bets, particularly Arbroath and Clyde who are now not worth backing and have came in heavily.

So we’ll have to make do with Partick Thistle as our main pick today – even at that I’ve gone a wee bit colder on them as Falkirk have made some decent signings, but Thistle should be stronger than Falkirk and evens is worth it.

I’m struggling for a Tasty Treble, but my next best would be Dumbarton who are decent value at 6/5 to beat bottom side Brechin. Montrose can make the treble tasty enough – solid team who can take care of East Fife at home. A full time Raith side should take care of an unpredictable Airdrie side to make a 4.

Some higher priced picks worth a shot? See below addendums:

2 points – Partick @ 21/20
2 points – Dumbarton @6/5
1 point – Montrose @ 6/4
1 point – Raith @ 11/10
1 point – Cowdenbeath @ 23/10
1 point – Annan @ 23/10
1 point – Queen of the South @ 29/10
1 point – Queens Park @ 7/2
