Pig Six

6 of the best today.

Clear winner for value is Montrose away. 11/5 freely available earlier in week, but they have been understandably coming in. Clyde are unpredictable but on a bad run, Montrose shoud be favourites here. Stilring have a tough game at home to Elgin, but I think they should also be marginal favourites, especially with Hester being out for Elgin. Stirlings unkonwn 3 Covid casualties probably weigh on their price, but hopefully it’s just 3 – Stirling have a decent squad for cover. To complete a very Tasty Treble indeed I’m going to add Motherwell. Their match against St Johstone could go either way, but that in itself highlights the value in 5/2. Three tight matches but a big reward at 16/1 should they all go our way!

For a 4 fold, I’m cautiously adding Dundee Utd. An over-rated team, but they are against a Hamilton side who look all over the place right now. At Tannadice you’d expect them to have enough to win that one. Lastly, Falkirk are a decent price at home to Cove at 7/5 for a five fold, and St Mirren are worth a small punt away to Livingston. Livingston still seem to be stronglyu fancied in the market but if Saints can cope with teh loss of Joe Shaugnessy, they shouldn’t be as high as 4/1 against the likes of Livingston.

Over and snout!

Scotland Isreal Value

Taking Scotland at 2/1 tonight. Stronger team, more to play for confidence high. Think they should be favourites here so 2/1 is good.

1 point – Scotland @ 2/1

Saturday Boardom

Hardly anything worth betting on in the League Cup today – two picks at small stakes

Firstly, probably my shortest priced pick ever – Hamilton at 1/4. Apart from a freak 3-2 win aganist Annan which was remedied by a 5-1 home pumping against the same team 3 days later, Albion Rovers have been rank rotten and are probably Scotlands worst team. Hamilton are a Premiership side at home, 1/10 would really be more appropriate. They should be motivated enough here even though the fixture is meaningless, as Brian Rice will probably find himself on the dole if they embarass themselves again. 25% return on investment will have to do.

Secondly, Brechin are worth a small punt at 3/1. Kelty will probably be a stronger side, but Brechin are still the professional outfit, have a new manager and possibly some new personnel. I see them as being more motivated to get back on track than Kelty who have nothing to play for.

That’s all. Yawn.

1 point – Hamilton @ 1/4
0.5 points – Brechin @ 3/1

Diddy Cup Punts

Lot’s of dross games on tonight which is usually right up the Pigs street but the diddy cup casts caution as there can often be a lot of changes.

Main pick tonight is Queen of the South away. It’s a battle of which team gives less of a sh1t. Both are practically out of the cup. However, QoS need to use this to get back on track in league, Queens Park are doing nicely and have nothing to play for – it’s only an opportunity to get injured so I don’t expect a big performance from them.

A lot of money quite rightly being piled on St Johnstone as the market tries to take advantage of Dundee Utds under pricing due to their completely undeserved unbeaten run. May have missed the boat as odds on is possibly not quite good enough but I can’t resist putting something on at 10/11.

Also for tomorrow – St Mirren are odds on at 4/6 in the Renfreshire derby. I think they should be fresh and right up for this one having had a long lay off. It also almost guarnatees going through to next round so they should be motivated, and Morton also look pretty piss poor so far. Saints win. And Airdrie will be at home to a team a league below who are already out so we’ll also take them at 8/11.

Tuesday
2 points – Queen of the South @ 6/4
1 point – St Johnstone @ 10/11

Wednesday
1 point – St Mirren @ 4/6
1 point – Airdrie @ 8/11

Annan Other Try

Not so good last night, but both underdog selections had the better of the matches, so we can count ourselves a bit unlucky and have another try today.

Back to the lower leagues, and I’m taking Annan and Stirling to take care of the League 2 fodder, Albion Rovers and Brechin City. Albion have been dreadful so far, although Brechin have just appointed a new manager so that bings us a bit of caution.

To make my Tasty Treble I’m going to plump for Montrose, although the price has motored inwards so I could only get 10/11. Already looking strong, they have just added Harry Cochrane on loan, which would seem like an excellent piece of business.

I have 3 other better priced selections to add. To make a 4 fold, Raith can continue their strong start at home to Morton, and I’d tentatively add Airdrie to get going again with a win against Clyde’s one man show. Lastly, Ayr Utd are outsiders at home to Dunfermline. Dunfermline sit top of the table but I’m not entirely convinced after 3 hard fought wins. Both sides have strong squads, but Ayr will be determind to make up for their untypical collapse last week in the last 7 minutes against Morton. I think it’s 50/50 so 2/1 is worth a punt.

Tasty Treble:

1 point – Annan @ 7/10
1 point – Stirling @ 3/4
1 point – Montrose @ 19/20

1 point – Airdrie @ 5/4
1 point – Raith @ 11/10
1 point – Ayr Utd @ 2/1

Friday Night Flutter

4 Premiership games on tonight and one game particularly catches our interest.

I’m on a bit of a crusade to make money off a Dundee Utd defeat after backing them 3 weeks on the trot to get beat – and they are unbeaten in all 3. However they are jammy bastards. Perhpaps not quite, they were, (probably), worthy of their win against Ross County last weekend, but they seriously rode their luck in the previous two. Performance wise I think we are looking at a contest between perhaps two of the three poorest in the league so far, (obviously Hamilton being the other). As such, St Mirren need to be winning this at home if they want to be getting off the bottom of the league. They make their long awaited return to action after weeks off with the plague, so that obviously brings a bit of random to the occasion but I think it will work more in their favour than against. The players should be champing at the bit, and they have a few key players fit again, plus some new signings to freshen things up further. 2/1 is well worth the risk, though it’s coming in fast.

And as we speak, Ross County have wandered into value at 7/2. What is it with Livi? They seem to be a bit over-rated, hot favbourites at home to Motherwell last week and duly pumped by half time, now odds on albeit against Dross County. I’ll only risk a small stake on it though.

Good luck follks! Cheers!

1 point – St Mirren @ 2/1
0.5 points – Ross County @ 7/2

Hog heads to Boghead for thrills

Big night for football tonight with a lot of mouthwatering games to choose from – but where better to start than down at Boghead, (or whatever Dumbarton’s home is called this week). Jim Dufys men are 21/10 at home against the completely unpredictable Clyde and that just creeps into value land. I expect Clyde’s unpredictablility is largely due to their heavy reliance on one player, Mr Badwillie.

That’s the only registered pick for this evening, (and the only game in Scotland), but elsewhere Inter Milan and Huddersfield look good value at 33/10 and 19/10 respectively. A wee speculative double returns around 10/1. And to get even more ridiculously out of our comfort zone, I think Joe Biden is a stick on to win the Presidential election and has drifted to 4/6. The embarrassment of a Trump win last time was against the backdrop of being up against an equally unpopular candidate that resulted in a very low turnout. I think we’ll see a much bigger turnout this time around with fewer Yanks willing to leave this to chance and they should be able to outnumber the hordes of morons that shamed their nation 4 years ago. The painful reminder of last time’s shock result brings more value to Bidens price. Eat it up.

1 point – Dumbarton @ 21/10

Scottish Cup Special

Most of the opportunities for the rest of Scotland to beat the Old Firm comes when you catch them off guard or complacent. However after recent events I expect a fully motivated Celtic to win this with a little to spare and we can get some value from Celtic – 1.
