Boxing Day Bacon

Kilmarnock have been on a dire run of late, and the appointment of that crook at Livingston has given them a boost in performnace. Kilmarnock haven’t managed to score a goal yet in December, and in fact have scored no goals in 7 of their last 9 league matches. However games have been littered with sending offs or against tougher opposition. If they can keep 11 men on the park, Livingson at home is definitely winnable so the 5/2 on offer is worth taking.

Dundee Utd have been a thorn in the pigs hide this year, consistently winning against the run of play. I’m persisting with this one though and taking Motherwell away at 6/4. Motherwell have had a sticky spell, but they are a better side.

To complete the Tasty Treble, I’m taking the impresive Raith away against one nof my favourites, Alloa. This time, I think Raith will have too much.

Elsewhere in the Championship – Queen of the South are in a bit of a state, Dundee should fancy their chances down there even with their leaky defence, and I’ll take Dunfermline to win at home to Arbroath for a 5 fold.

In League one, Dumbarton and Partick Thistle are long enough odds to get invovled.

That your Boxing Day wrapped up folks! Enjoy.

2 points – Kilmarnock @ 5/2
1 point – Motherwell @ 6/4
1 point – Raith Rovers @ 5/4

1 point – Dundee @ 11/10
1 point – Dunfermline @ 4/5
1 point – Dumbarton @ 12/5
1 point – Partick Thistle @ 5/2

Ham Stakes

Can’t quite believe I’m staking money on Hamilton. To be 5/1, at home, against Livingston, I suppose just highlights how shite they are, but at that price I can’t help but get invovled. Hamilton have shown before they can find ways to win, usually with more than a sprinkle of luck, and they have managed to get a break against better teams than Livi.

St Mirren have been in outstanding form and are capable of causing Hibs problems – but HIbs at 11/10 have just become attractive enough to back. AT home they’ve been good and thrashed Dundee Utd 1-1 at the weekend. Saints will do wel to take anything here.

My strongest fancy makes up the midweek Tasty Treble. Dundee Utd have been riding their luck for somwe time, Kilmarnock are in a sticky patch but if they can hit anything like their normal levels they should be favourites to win.

That’s your Midweek Special Tasty Treble, served up just in time for Christmas! Tuck in! ?

2 points – Kilmarnock 9/5
1 point – Hibs @ 11/10
0.5 points – Hamilton @ 5/1

Pig stake against the Fakes

Should be a tight game when the Saints play the Fakes tomorrow, however St Mirren have been in outstanding form, outplaying Aberdeen, (twice), beating Motherwell, Livi and even Rangers. Even the last defeat 11 games ago was unfortunate up at Pittodrie. St Johnstone are a stiff side and another strong test, but I think the real Saints should be favourites here. We’ll take 11/5, I expect that will come in tomorrow.

Ross County are my pick of the day. You can never write Hamilton off, but I will anyway. Barring an act of spawn, (sending off, freak goal, or just being awarded the match 3-0), then they should be easily beaten here. Evens is generous.

Lastly, I think Ayr are a bit too keenly priced at 6/4 away to Arbroath. The Smokies can be a handful to beat at home, but signs are showing that they’ve had their time in the Championship.

A generously priced Tasty Treble to set us up for Christmas!

For a 5 fold, add a couple more odds on favourites. Strongly fancy both Montrose and Elgin at home at just under evens – both strong sides in their division against mediocre opposition.

Lastly, small stakes on Alloa and Stirling could yield dividends from higher prices.

In summary:

2 points – St Mirren @ 21/10
2 points – Ross County @ evens
2 points – Ayr Utd @ 6/4
1 point – Montrose @ 17/20
1 point – Elgin City @ 9/10
0.5 points – Alloa @ 14/5
0.5 points – Stirling @ 12/5

Pigs Picks

2 points – Hibernian @ 1/2
1 point – Alloa @ 3/1
1 point – Dunfermline @ 6/10
1 point – Dundee @ 9/4
1 point – Queens Park @ 11/10
1 point – Elgin City @ 1/2
0.5 points St Mirren @ 12/5

Pork Hide

Expect fewer posts in next few weeks. I’m aware of the huge disappointment this will bring to some, however as the festive season approaches, pigs need to lay low. It’s a good time to pause for a performance check and we can see that up to end of November we have yielded roughly 7% profit, for more detail see:

2020 Results Update

A bold Tasty Treble today to conclude this period. Livingston have been boosted by the Covid crisis at Tannadice, (some of the coaching staff have disgustingly and disgracefully caught Covid – string them up!), however I’d have taken them without any Covid influence so they are a strong fancy. Also in the Premiership, Kilmarnock should be able to take care of the dire Hamilton, whose luck seems to know no bounds having been awarded a 3-0 for free through the week. They’re still going to need a few more of their opponents to catch Covid if they are to have any chance of staying up.

To complete the Tasty Treble, add Elgin at home to Annan. I’m betting on the strength of Elgin here. Annan are very unpredictable so far, but they will need to be very good to take anything off one of the leagues top sides.

To complete a 4 fold Dundee just about make value at home to Arbroath. James McPake really puts me off Dundeee and he is doing his damndest to create a mess, but even with him at the helm they should be able to take care of Arbroath at home.

** Late addition! Forgot about Airdrie.. they are on a bit of a high, we can add them at 6/5 for a Fab Five.

Enjoy!

2 points – Livingston at evens
2 points – Elgin @ 7/10
2 points – Kilmarnock @ 19/20
1 point – Dundee @ evens
1 point – Airdrie @ 6/5
